These are a few of the questions which get asked on a regular basis. If you have a question which is not answered here please contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
How many lessons will it take to pass my test?
This varies wildly from student to student. Some pass quicker than others depending on many factors such as age, how long you spend as a passenger in a car and if you can practice using a friend or family member’s car. According to government statistics the average learner will need 45 hours tuition with an instructor and 20 hours practice in their own or family member’s vehicle.
What car do I use for the test? Can I use my own car?
Most students will sit their test in their instructor’s car. This is because this is the car they are most familiar with and have spent most time practising. You are allowed to use your own car for your test but it must have valid insurance (make sure it is covered for test purposes), MOT and be taxed.
Will other pupils be in the car with me?
No, all of our tuition is carried out on a 1 to 1 basis.
I have had lessons with a previous instructor, do I need to start my learning again?
If you have had previous instruction your first lesson with us will start as an assessment lesson to give your instructor an idea of which stage of learning you are at. If you have had lessons recently you may be able to move forward with your learning quite quickly. If your last lesson was some time ago, you have to refresh your knowledge from your previous tuition.
Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes, our gift vouchers are available online through our contact us page or by calling us.
I have never driven before, what can I expect from my first lesson?
At Signature we understand that learning to drive is an exciting step but can also be nerve racking. On your first lesson your instructor will take you to a quiet industrial estate or carpark and the aim will be to familiarise yourself with the controls of the car and be able to confidently move off and stop by the end of the lesson.
I have checked what areas you cover, I am just outside it, can you still teach me?
Our areas covered is a rough guide. If you are unsure as whether you are in our area please contact us. We have instructors covering different areas and we will always try to be flexible.
Are you available evenings/weekends?
Our instructors all choose their own working hours but are available on evenings/weekends. If you require a fixed lesson each week, please let us know when you contact us and we will find the right instructor for your needs.
