The High Street is the focal point of Gosforth. It comprises an abundance of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs, with parking available in local car parks off St. Nicholas Avenue, above Gosforth Shopping Centre and in Salters Road car park.

Gosforth Nature Reserve is a wildlife haven in Tyne and Wear, which comprises extensive woodland and wetland habitats. Access to the reserve is restricted to members of the Natural History Society of Northumbria (NHSN) and those with a valid day pass.

Exhibition Park is a beautiful park complete with a Victorian bandstand and a boating lake, home to swans and ducks.

Visitors can access Exhibition Park from multiple entrances, including from Jesmond via Clayton Road. The main entrance to Exhibition Park is on Claremont Road.
Jesmond Dene is a narrow wooded valley in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne that follows the river Ouseburn between South Gosforth and Jesmond Vale.
The Dene is a lovely place to go for a relaxing walk and spend some time with friends and family. It is home to lots of wildlife, including red squirrels, woodland birds and kingfishers.
The Dene stretches for over three kilometres and has a network of paths, bridges, and open expanses of tranquillity to explore.
There is also a large picnic area and a visitor attraction known as Pet’s Corner, a popular, family-friendly visitor attraction. Here you will find animals of all shapes and sizes, such as alpacas, pot-bellied pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits and numerous colourful birds.
The Town Moor is an open area of grassland covering over 1,000 acres grazed by cattle on the outskirts of Gosforth. Located off Claremont Road, the moor is an ideal place to go for a walk or run.
During the summer, it hosts the Hoppings, reportedly Europe’s largest touring fairground.

Newcastle Racecourse is one of Britain’s busiest racecourses and hosts over sixty horse racing fixtures every year. The course is off the B1318, adjacent to the Newcastle Marriott Hotel off the A1. Local buses connect the racecourse with the nearby Metro interchanges at Regent Centre Metro, and Four Lane Ends stations.
The main venue for cricket is South Northumberland Cricket Club, off Roseworth Terrace, which encourages active participation in the sport and has teams for men, women and kids.
Gosforth Lawn Tennis Club is a friendly and welcoming club that offers coaching services for all ages and abilities and has floodlit astroturf courts.
For avid golfers, Gosforth has three golf courses worthy of consideration; Gosforth Golf Club, Newcastle Golf Club and Parklands Golf Club.
Gosforth Golf Club, off Broadway East, is a well-maintained course with a good variety of holes, friendly and helpful staff, and one of the area’s favourite courses. The club welcomes both males, female and senior golfers to join, and you can become a member for as little as £10 for five days.
Nearby is the City Of Newcastle Golf Club on Great North Road, opposite the Three Mile Inn.
Parklands Golf Club is located in High Gosforth Park and offers a range of golfing facilities that caters for golfers of any age and ability. It has a 28 bay driving range, an 18 hole golf course and an 18 hole mini-golf course. The mini-golf course offers you the opportunity to try a challenging course within a fun environment. Clubs and balls are available for hire.
Immediately to the north of Parklands Golf Club, off the A1056 Sandy Lane, is the Government’s local driving test centre for learner drivers in Gosforth looking to pass their practical driving test.
